The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernandinho Barral couldn't finish the play. Thiago Senna might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edson de Souza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thiago Senna ran back to his position shaking his head. Edson de Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thiago Senna in the 11th minute of play. When CA Portugália's Thiago Senna in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Carlos Fernando dos Santos hit a great ball. 39 minutes into the match, A A Arizona's goal looked a bit too open when Thiago Senna came free, but Edson de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando dos Santos in the 41st minute of play forced A A Arizona's goalkeeper Edson de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the A A Arizona defense, Carlos Fernando dos Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edson de Souza. The A A Arizona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edson de Souza should have stopped the shot. The wind increased when Thiago Senna made the kick off in the second half.
