The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fernandez Quintairos hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Fernandez Quintairos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomasz Rutkowski having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Fernandez Quintairos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Tomasz Rutkowski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Isadoro Archibeque kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 36th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fliz Marty to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Slawomir Adamowicz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bermudo Mestre. That made the score 1-1 in the 37 minute of play. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Szczakowianka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mikolaj Gamza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute Fernandez Quintairos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomasz Rutkowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Slawomir Adamowicz made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Szczakowianka's goalkeeper Tomasz Rutkowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernandez Quintairos. Alberto Tafoya who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 62ndth minute tested the skills of Tomasz Rutkowski when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Borussia Dortmund's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ulizes Pruano in the 63rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Ulizes Pruano got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tomasz Rutkowski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Javiero Menendez hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 68th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Tafoya to maneuver through the defense. After 73 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Frutos Betzanos. In the 79th minute Walery Niedbalski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bermudo Mestre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 81 minutes Borussia Dortmund's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Maciej Haszczak who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Szczakowianka's corner Julian Waselewicz fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bermudo Mestre quite easily take care of the ball. Frutos Betzanos hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the match, Szczakowianka's Maciej Haszczak broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With his leg Tomasz Rutkowski managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Borussia Dortmund's Alberto Tafoya fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Borussia Dortmund walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
