In the 3rd minute of the match, Ortiz Zumarraga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Gelu Amânaloae was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as C.A. GUAYACO's Armando Paniagua slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gelu Amânaloae. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. A collision led to MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Florin Vuşcan hit a great ball. Arias Burgo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florin Vuşcan in the 14th minute of the match. Luís Ferreira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gelu Amânaloae having to make a save. Ortiz Zumarraga charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ortiz Zumarraga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 21 played minutes C.A. GUAYACO got a freekick which was hit by Ortiz Zumarraga. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Ferreira got free with Gelu Amânaloae in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Luís Ferreira notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's Gelu Amânaloae. Gelu Amânaloae was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arias Burgo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dan Stelaru's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Gelu Amânaloae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Paniagua in the 33rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Paniagua came free, but Gelu Amânaloae reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 50th minute, one of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV. Gelu Amânaloae had in the 52ndth minute some difficulties stopping Agustin Pillado's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Armando Paniagua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gelu Amânaloae having to interfere. Mădălin Sitaru hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After 74 played minutes MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV got a freekick which was hit by Silviu Cutieru. After 81 minutes, Mădălin Sitaru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV and the C.A. GUAYACO players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C.A. GUAYACO booed when MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mădălin Sitaru didn't get a good kick on the ball.
