Spams's Maximino Urtsin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Spams from getting a goal against them. After 42 played minutes Spams got a freekick which was hit by Goran Vlaović. Goran Vlaović charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Spams's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Martín Santillana 48 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. Spams's Herminio Escobar was substituted for Adam Bareiro. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Fernando Miguel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amancio Feliu in the 101st minute of the match. Spams were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
