The audience was convinced that Ervin DeJesus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cato Goiano was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. After 27 minutes, Eddy Mendez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Miami Futbol Club and the El retorno del Pincha players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Racing Miami Futbol Club's Eddy Mendez got a free kick in the 27th minute. Genaro Cassidy's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cato Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Ervin DeJesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cato Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, one of El retorno del Pincha:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ervin DeJesus made a kick off.
