An unexpectedly hard shot by Emiliano Scannella in the 3rd minute of play forced MZ Fénix's goalkeeper Delfim Vilas Boas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emiliano Scannella got free with Delfim Vilas Boas in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fedele Schiacciacasse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Castelo Branco in the 6th minute of play. The supporters of MZ Fénix booed when A.S. Udinese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emiliano Scannella didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 played minutes MZ Fénix got a freekick which was hit by Noel Castilho. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Taborda in the 11th minute of play forced A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Fedele Schiacciacasse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fedele Schiacciacasse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Taborda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fedele Schiacciacasse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Taborda, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 33 played minutes MZ Fénix got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Cruz. MZ Fénix's defense didn't have a chance, in the 34th minute, when Emiliano Scannella scored to the left of an out of position Delfim Vilas Boas, making the score, 1-0. A.S. Udinese's Emiliano Scannella got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fedele Schiacciacasse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Taborda, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Fedele Schiacciacasse showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Taborda in the 45th minute of the match. After 45th play minutes Rui Taborda shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Fedele Schiacciacasse and just under the crossbar into goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

A.S. Udinese's Ettore Tammaro was substituted for Alessandro Del Pizzo. The wind increased when Rui Taborda made the kick off in the second half. Rui Taborda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. MZ Fénix's Delfim Vilas Boas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Scannella in the 57th minute of play. Fedele Schiacciacasse didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rui Taborda went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. A.S. Udinese's Corrado Restaino was substituted for Silvio Che. 65 minutes into the match, MZ Fénix's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Dossena came free, but Delfim Vilas Boas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Fedele Schiacciacasse, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 76 minutes A.S. Udinese's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Rubim Jesus who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Nuno Cruz managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Michael-Peter Koenig during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fedele Schiacciacasse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Taborda, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. The supporters of A.S. Udinese booed when MZ Fénix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubim Jesus didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Rui Taborda had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fedele Schiacciacasse. A.S. Udinese's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rui Taborda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Rui Taborda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Fedele Schiacciacasse made a huge save. In the 97th minute Ernesto Delle Donne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Vilas Boas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The MZ Fénix supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing MZ Fénix would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
