After a rather tough play, Academica Pulheim's Meinolf Rebe got a free kick in the 26th minute. Burkhardt Scheider's late challenge caught a MZ Fénix's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Taborda in the 33rd minute of play forced Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Henry Nölting to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Taborda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Delfim Vilas Boas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florian Schulitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui Taborda struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Henry Nölting didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MZ Fénix. The supporters of MZ Fénix booed when Academica Pulheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Kuhn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Academica Pulheim's Henry Nölting proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Academica Pulheim from getting a goal against them. 47 minutes into the match, MZ Fénix's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Schulitz came free, but Delfim Vilas Boas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui Taborda to make the kick off. Delfim Vilas Boas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florian Schulitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 61st minute, Rui Taborda made a precise shot to the right of Henry Nölting. Academica Pulheim's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0.
