SAN LORENZO FC's John Locke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Paraíba in the 13th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Clube do Remo MZ's Afonso Paraíba ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind John Locke. John Locke yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. John Locke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Paraíba in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match Clube do Remo MZ got a corner. SAN LORENZO FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Fernando Britto ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Luizão Vides almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SAN LORENZO FC's John Locke did a great save. The supporters of SAN LORENZO FC booed when Clube do Remo MZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodriguinho Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Heredia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Pinho having to interfere. John Locke didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mário Maia went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Clube do Remo MZ's zone, Victor Heredia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cléber Pinho came out of the goal and Victor Heredia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. John Locke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Paraíba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Clube do Remo MZ's Doriva Pinho got a free kick in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victor Heredia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Maia came free, but John Locke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Paraíba came free, but John Locke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Clube do Remo MZ fans cheered their team off the field, for while SAN LORENZO FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
