After a rather tough play, Itacaruaré FC's Faustino Ospin got a free kick in the 17th minute. Evelio Guipuzkoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute, Mariano Urtungo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Itacaruaré FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alvaro Ermano was slow to take the kick. During this time Palermo's players had a chance to rest. Valentin Enekoitz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 34th match minute, Itacaruaré FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristides Porfirio to maneuver through the defense. Baldomiro Gamus hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Marcial Dantae showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Claus in the 38th minute of the match. In the 44th match minute, Itacaruaré FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albino Astigar to maneuver through the defense. Albino Astigar hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After the first half Palermo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Itacaruaré FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palermo the free kick. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alvaro Ermano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Gabriel Ritchie fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itacaruaré FC's protests and gave Gabriel Ritchie a yellow card for diving instead. After 62 played minutes Itacaruaré FC got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Ritchie. Palermo's Baldomiro Gamus got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the match, Itacaruaré FC's goal looked a bit too open when Baldomiro Gamus came free, but Ismael Garaona reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvaro Ermano to maneuver through the defense.
