Baldomiro Gamus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Chaves having to interfere. Luís Fábio Massa kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After 42 played minutes, Palermo's Alvaro Ermano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Telmo Chaves came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palermo reached it. Pedro Maraman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Chaves having to interfere. Palermo's Eulalio Lano got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Fabiano Sena to strike the kick off in the second half. Valdomiro Sanches could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Marcial Dantae made a huge save. 57 minutes into the game, Anibal Fernendo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Telmo Chaves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pedro Maraman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Célio Rezende's late challenge caught a Palermo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evelio Guipuzkoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Telmo Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palermo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alvaro Ermano in the 89th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros Capibaras FC's zone, Eulalio Lano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Chaves came out of the goal and Eulalio Lano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Célio Rezende was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 93 minutes had been played. The supporters of Palermo booed when Pinheiros Capibaras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Célio Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baldomiro Gamus blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Telmo Chaves having to make a save.
