But to his dismay, Sandrinho Pirani quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 39th minute, NUMBA's Donato Gaztea ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jairo Neiva. Jairo Neiva yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Jairo Neiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Gaztea, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. When Arnaldo Txurio fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NUMBA's protests and gave Arnaldo Txurio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Chinho FC booed when NUMBA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Txurio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in NUMBA's zone, Danilo Messias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Perrando came out of the goal and Danilo Messias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jairo Neiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Bela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jairo Neiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Gaztea, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 98th minute Donato Gaztea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Neiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
