The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelinho Antunes got free with Leonel Paraíba in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Misericordia EC's Cássio Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Walmir Ferreira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Gustavo Sampaio went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The Misericordia EC fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Misericordia EC's Cássio Motta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to SANTOS FC- FDFDF getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Adalberto Souza hit a great ball. Walmir Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the game, Luís Gustavo Sampaio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Walmir Ferreira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th minute, Cássio Motta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Misericordia EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5.

Cássio Motta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Walmir Ferreira having to make a save. The supporters of Misericordia EC booed when SANTOS FC- FDFDF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alex Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Ferreira having to interfere. Misericordia EC's Alex Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the SANTOS FC- FDFDF defense, Alex Gaúcho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Walmir Ferreira. The SANTOS FC- FDFDF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Walmir Ferreira should have stopped the shot. Walmir Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldir Branco in the 66th minute of the match. Walmir Ferreira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cássio Motta went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-7 was the resulting score. In the 82nd minute Cássio Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walmir Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Walmir Ferreira managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Misericordia EC's Cássio Motta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 86 minutes into the match, SANTOS FC- FDFDF's goalkeeper Walmir Ferreira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alex Gaúcho. In the 91st minute, Misericordia EC's Alex Gaúcho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Walmir Ferreira. Walmir Ferreira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Moreno in the 94th minute of play forced Misericordia EC's goalkeeper Leonel Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Misericordia EC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
