When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Remigio Txartiko took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Dionisio Faro to make any attempt to save it. In the 16th minute, Gimnasia y tiro's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Leo Froylan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Gimnasia y tiro's Dionisio Faro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Gimnasia y tiro from getting a goal against them. After 20 minutes of play, Chesterfield's Delmiro Gelacio made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dionisio Faro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dionisio Faro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Remigio Txartiko's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Dionisio Faro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leo Froylan. Jorge Valerio kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the game, Epifanio Innocenzio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Gonzalo Bonano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 36 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Dionisio Faro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Delmiro Gelacio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Benvido in the 37th minute of play forced Chesterfield's goalkeeper Gonzalo Bonano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lisandro Ayala was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 39 minutes into the match. 39 minutes into the game, one of Chesterfield:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Gimnasia y tiro a penalty, 43 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dario Bazil, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Chesterfield's Gonzalo Bonano. 3-2. The supporters of Chesterfield booed when Gimnasia y tiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidio Cutberto didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
