After a defensive mix-up in Montesclarense E.C.'s zone, Renatinho Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Monteiro came out of the goal and Renatinho Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renatinho Esteves, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Renatinho Esteves sped through Montesclarense E.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luiz Monteiro. After a rather tough play, Montesclarense E.C.'s Chiquinho de Lima got a free kick in the 23rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caco Rossi in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rui Souto saved Arsenal MGK from getting behind. 40 minutes into the match, Chiquinho de Lima had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rui Souto. Arsenal MGK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chiquinho de Lima was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The wind increased when Renatinho Esteves made the kick off in the second half. Sandro dos Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandro dos Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. Ricardo Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the match, Arsenal MGK's Renatinho Esteves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Monteiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Arsenal MGK getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Artur da Cunha hit a great ball. When Luiz Cavalcante fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montesclarense E.C.'s protests and gave Luiz Cavalcante a yellow card for diving instead. Maurício Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Monteiro having to interfere. After some careless play in the Montesclarense E.C. defense, Renatinho Esteves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luiz Monteiro. The Montesclarense E.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luiz Monteiro should have stopped the shot. Renatinho Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Monteiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Renatinho Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. Montesclarense E.C.'s Luiz Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renatinho Esteves in the 85th minute of play. After 85 minutes, Chiquinho de Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montesclarense E.C. and the Arsenal MGK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chiquinho de Lima to maneuver through the defense. In the 86th minute, Ronaldo de Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 90 minutes, Luiz Guilherme Prado mouthed his way into the referee's book. Arsenal MGK:s Rui Souto showed great skill when he stopped Sidney Schmidt:s penalty. If Ricardo Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Montesclarense E.C. players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
