A collision led to OROTINENSE getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Rodolfo Orozco hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Buenaventura Paniagua's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raimundo Quexal was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. If Alex Santamaria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Salvador Frantzes got free with Ulises Villegas in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Santamaria in the 17th minute of play forced Los Golosos's goalkeeper Raimundo Quexal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Prospero Cordarrol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute of the match Modesto Paulin shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulises Villegas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Los Golosos's zone, Alex Santamaria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raimundo Quexal came out of the goal and Alex Santamaria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Los Golosos booed when OROTINENSE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonny Rosales didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ulises Villegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingo Nikola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Modesto Paulin in the 41st minute of play forced OROTINENSE's goalkeeper Ulises Villegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the game, Ernesto Barrantes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Raimundo Quexal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

After having played for 53 minutes, Salvador Frantzes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Golosos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Salvador Frantzes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ulises Villegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salvador Frantzes in the 59th minute of play. The supporters of Los Golosos booed when OROTINENSE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jason Ramirez didn't get a good kick on the ball. 63 minutes into the game, Bernabe Tallia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Ulises Villegas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Roman Oro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 72 minutes into the match, Los Golosos's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Orozco came free, but Raimundo Quexal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Modesto Paulin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jason Ramirez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Raimundo Quexal came out and tried to block the shot, but Jason Ramirez slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 81st minute. Raimundo Quexal made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Alex Santamaria sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Los Golosos defense, Buenaventura Paniagua kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raimundo Quexal. The Los Golosos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raimundo Quexal should have stopped the shot. The OROTINENSE supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing OROTINENSE would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
