The coaching staff of Fillos de Breogán protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Xaime Galaiko had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 83 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fillos de Breogán! Xines Ludueña hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Torcuato Carballido's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zoil Frenes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. The Real Guayaquil.F.C. players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
