The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Danilo Frascuelo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arturo Cipolla's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Arturo Cipolla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Frascuelo having to interfere. Demetrio Borrelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ennio Grasso hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After 19 played minutes Cesate got a freekick which was hit by Cesare Capasso. Erasmo Fernendo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arturo Cipolla scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Danilo Frascuelo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Danilo Frascuelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Demetrio Borrelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. When Demetrio Borrelli came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Cesate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Demetrio Borrelli couldn't finish the play. 32 minutes into the match, Amancio Magdaleno dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Concetto Amatori, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Amancio Magdaleno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Concetto Amatori having to interfere. Amancio Magdaleno's late challenge caught a Cesate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amancio Magdaleno helped the player get up and apologised. After 68 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Amancio Magdaleno. The supporters of Cesate booed when NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Domingues didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 86 minutes into the game, when Cesare Capasso put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cesate fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 85th minute. Penalty! In the 87th minute there was a penalty for NEWELL´S OLD BOYS. Rene Bernabel stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Concetto Amatori. 2-2. Danilo Frascuelo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Demetrio Borrelli in the 94th minute of the match. In the 98th match minute, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Domingues to maneuver through the defense. Demetrio Borrelli was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 99th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
