Virgilio Marcilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldinho Massa, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Donatello Incera kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. When Curcio Amer came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the PERSPOLIS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curcio Amer couldn't finish the play. Virgilio Marcilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Massa in the 14th minute of play. Maurino Acedo hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, Osvaldinho Massa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Virgilio Marcilla. PERSPOLIS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Osvaldinho Massa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 20th minute of the match, Toninho Castro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Virgilio Marcilla was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 21 minutes of play, PERSPOLIS's Jaizki Lacorte made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Renato Pirani was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of PERSPOLIS booed when Tabajara Londrina LBFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. PERSPOLIS's Curcio Amer got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Osvaldinho Massa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Virgilio Marcilla was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Virgilio Marcilla made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Toninho Castro sent off a good shot on target. If Gernando Braga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tabajara Londrina LBFC's Osvaldinho Massa in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye PERSPOLIS's goalie prevented a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Osvaldinho Massa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Virgilio Marcilla. That made the score 4-2 in the 44 minute of play. Renato Pirani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaizki Lacorte in the 47th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jaizki Lacorte made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaizki Lacorte got free with Renato Pirani in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd minute Curcio Amer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Pirani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xelo Dagora hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Gernando Braga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 81 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Massa came free, but Virgilio Marcilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
