In the 37th minute, Mick Newman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graham Long in the 42nd minute of play forced Portus Ganda's goalkeeper Nils Robin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute of the match Danny Spoelberchs sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Niall Deacon skillfully saved the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lennert Van Den Bosch was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Pierre Van Leemputte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niall Deacon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mick Newman fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
