Spectators: 7541 (Terracing: 5657, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Alexandre Van Kamp kicked off to start the match. In the 7th minute, Royal Antwerp FC's Ward Reiniers ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Natã Madureira. William Weggers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 21st match minute, Real Cruzeiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo Nazário De Lima to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Alexandre Van Kamp had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Natã Madureira. Real Cruzeiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alexandre Van Kamp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Ronaldo Nazário De Lima put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of William Weggers. After having played for 29 minutes, Gonçalo Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Cruzeiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonçalo Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. William Weggers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonçalo Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th play minute Alexandre Van Kamp came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Natã Madureira. 3-3. If Alexandre Van Kamp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Real Cruzeiro FC's Natã Madureira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casper Nilis in the 45th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronaldo Nazário De Lima to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Van Kamp in the 57th minute of play forced Real Cruzeiro FC's goalkeeper Natã Madureira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute, Gonçalo Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Royal Antwerp FC's Casper Nilis got a free kick in the 61st minute. 66 minutes into the game, Casper Nilis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Royal Antwerp FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Real Cruzeiro FC the free kick. In the 66th minute, Casper Nilis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ward Reiniers scored 5-3 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Natã Madureira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Gonçalo Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The tension between the Royal Antwerp FC and the Real Cruzeiro FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Christiano de Barros's late challenge caught a Royal Antwerp FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
