The supporters of SK Dreigoten booed when Edson Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizinho Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute of the match Cedric Van Landewijck sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arlindo Goiano skillfully saved the ball. If Jo Vissenakens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. Edson Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cedric Van Landewijck was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Enéas Barros made the kick off in the second half. Arlindo Goiano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cedric Van Landewijck showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-3 in the 55 minute of play. Bill Severyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enéas Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. When Cedric Van Landewijck fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SK Dreigoten's protests and gave Cedric Van Landewijck a yellow card for diving instead. Enéas Barros struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Bill Severyns didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Edson Futebol Clube. Cedric Van Landewijck got his second yellow card in the match during the 64th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, SK Dreigoten's Ewout Valckenaers got a free kick in the 91st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Enéas Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edson Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Enéas Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
