After 6 minutes, Nathan Zegers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fc Benefica and the Vista Alegre FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Osvaldo Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antônio Carlos Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Janus having to interfere. Antoon van Zelst charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antoon van Zelst the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Fc Benefica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luuk Ridder to maneuver through the defense. Vista Alegre FC's Jonathan Trigo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 24th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Fc Benefica. Raí Bittencourt charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raí Bittencourt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 played minutes Vista Alegre FC got a freekick which was hit by Raí Bittencourt. In the 28th minute Antoon van Zelst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Décio Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antoon van Zelst scored 0-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Décio Neto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jurgen Zoetmulder hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Timmie van Zaanen during the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute of the game Reinaldo Tande made a throw-in which Antônio Carlos Vander played forward. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldo Negri to make the kick off. Humberto Janus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Negri in the 54th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Benefica's zone, Jonathan Trigo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Janus came out of the goal and Jonathan Trigo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vista Alegre FC's Antônio Carlos Vander got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Antoon van Zelst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Timmie van Zaanen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Janus having to interfere. Humberto Janus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Negri in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldo Negri in the 74th minute of play forced Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Humberto Janus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ediberto Abraão's late challenge caught a Fc Benefica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ediberto Abraão helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Fc Benefica booed when Vista Alegre FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ediberto Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute, Timmie van Zaanen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antônio Carlos Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Janus having to interfere. Humberto Janus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Vander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle went the supporters of Fc Benefica were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Vista Alegre FC side.
