In the 5th match minute, Club Atletico Los Andes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvaro Rameriz to maneuver through the defense. Enrique Garaona didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jano Proença went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Arnaldo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ermegildo Donzel in the 10th minute of the match. Nereo Tohias scored 1-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnaldo Lopes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nereo Tohias in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnaldo Lopes saved AFC - Curitiba from getting behind. Arnaldo Lopes came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Los Andes's Ermegildo Donzel. But to his dismay, Ermegildo Donzel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Arnaldo Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ermegildo Donzel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Ermegildo Donzel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnaldo Lopes. AFC - Curitiba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ermegildo Donzel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. If Jano Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnaldo Lopes came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Los Andes's Nereo Tohias. But to his dismay, Nereo Tohias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Los Andes's Teodosio Guillen got a free kick in the 45th minute. Disappointed in the 1-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Durvalino Linhares to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Arnaldo Lopes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ermegildo Donzel. Arnaldo Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermegildo Donzel, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Donzel in the 60th minute of play forced AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Arnaldo Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Los Andes's Ceferino Lorien got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 80th minute Jano Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Garaona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnaldo Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nereo Tohias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute, Durvalino Linhares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save AFC - Curitiba from getting a goal against them. Ermegildo Donzel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Arnaldo Lopes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Arnaldo Lopes made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Ermegildo Donzel sent off a good shot on target. When the final whistle sounded Club Atletico Los Andes left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AFC - Curitiba.
