Durvalino Linhares started the match with the kick off. After 5 minutes, Östen Barck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС and the AFC - Curitiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's Östen Barck got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute, Nelsinho Travassos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFC - Curitiba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Serafim da Cunha during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to AFC - Curitiba getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Serafim da Cunha hit a great ball. Arnaldo Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gösta Andreasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 played minutes, AFC - Curitiba's Serafim da Cunha shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandro Ormea came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AFC - Curitiba reached it. Jano Proença took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sandro Ormea. Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gösta Andreasson in the 19th minute of play. After some careless play in the AFC - Curitiba defense, Gösta Andreasson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnaldo Lopes. The AFC - Curitiba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnaldo Lopes should have stopped the shot. Clemente Ceresso hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Arne Nyman took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arnaldo Lopes. AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gösta Andreasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnaldo Lopes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gösta Andreasson ran back to his position shaking his head. Arnaldo Lopes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gösta Andreasson's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute, Humberto Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnaldo Lopes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 28th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Arne Nyman. Gösta Andreasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 played minutes Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС got a freekick which was hit by Östen Barck. Arnaldo Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Nyman, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. When Arne Nyman, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 41 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Arnaldo Lopes was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. During the 43rd minute of the match Östen Barck completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Östen Barck a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 44 played minutes Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС got a freekick which was hit by Östen Barck. In the 45th minute, Andréas Holmstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sandro Ormea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jano Proença, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gösta Andreasson to make the kick off. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gösta Andreasson in the 51st minute of play. In the 59th minute, Arne Nyman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnaldo Lopes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's Fredrik Hermansson was substituted for Gösta Andreasson. Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС made a substitution. Sven-Ove Söderström replaced Thomas Tengelin. Fernandinho de Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Magne Näfver's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnaldo Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Arnaldo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fredrik Hermansson in the 69th minute of the match. 71 minutes into the game, Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's Fredrik Hermansson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnaldo Lopes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. 79 minutes into the game, Durvalino Linhares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AFC - Curitiba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС the free kick. After 79 played minutes AFC - Curitiba got a freekick which was hit by Durvalino Linhares. Arnaldo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Ove Söderström in the 81st minute of the match. Arne Nyman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Durvalino Linhares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Sandro Ormea made a huge save. Arnaldo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Apelqvist in the 88th minute of the match. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fredrik Hermansson in the 90th minute of play. Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
