Union Madereros's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Pinto came free, but Albino Maldonado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Club Dep. Union Madereros getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Romeo Afonso hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Kaplan's Nunez Urtzi got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 16 played minutes, Club Dep. Union Madereros's Romeo Afonso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper René Higuita came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Union Madereros fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Evaristo Gabino made the kick off in the second half. Albino Maldonado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evaristo Gabino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Union Madereros's Arnulfo Barea quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Nemesio Mateus, made in the 87th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Club Dep. Union Madereros's zone, Amador Bela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albino Maldonado came out of the goal and Amador Bela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute, Angel Calisto made a precise shot to the right of Albino Maldonado. Club Dep. Union Madereros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. 96 minutes into the match, Club Dep. Union Madereros's goal looked a bit too open when Evaristo Gabino came free, but Albino Maldonado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Kaplan were the better team. Kaplan's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
