The crowd rose to their feet as Segundo Inge kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gaber Furlan. That made the score 1-0 in the 2 minute of play. Gliša Bozja's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Narciso Jerrald read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Segundo Inge hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Cristian Jerardo hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicasio Mendebal in the 26th minute of play forced HIT Gorica's goalkeeper Gaber Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicasio Mendebal received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gaber Furlan came out and tried to block the shot, but Nicasio Mendebal slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 35th minute. HIT Gorica's Gaber Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvaro Hernando in the 39th minute of play. Gliša Bozja charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gliša Bozja the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of RIVER booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gliša Bozja didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Urh Lupša's late challenge caught a RIVER's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Urh Lupša helped the player get up and apologised. Narciso Jerrald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Esdras came free, but Gaber Furlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eustacio Nevada in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaber Furlan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. HIT Gorica's Gaber Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvaro Hernando in the 75th minute of play. In the 76th minute Segundo Inge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaber Furlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
