In the 43rd minute Chico Mangueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ralf Henriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Göran Haraldsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. NitalarbralatiN's supporters rose to their feet, but Göran Haraldsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Régis Madureira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Göran Haraldsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frédson Rosa got free with Ralf Henriksson in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. David Furtado hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Göran Haraldsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute.
