German Ourente was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Anibal Bonifaco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vladimir Schnyder read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. German Ourente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thaddäus Striner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Eugenio Izotz fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rafaela FC's protests and gave Eugenio Izotz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Eusebio Criston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rafaela FC's German Ourente proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Rafaela FC from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute, Thaddäus Striner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fire Devils fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Billy Waller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but German Ourente made a huge save. Horace Feldmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. German Ourente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fire Devils's Vladimir Schnyder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anibal Bonifaco in the 45th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

German Ourente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thaddäus Striner, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Thaddäus Striner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without German Ourente having to interfere. Horace Feldmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but German Ourente read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rafaela FC's zone, Thaddäus Striner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. German Ourente came out of the goal and Thaddäus Striner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hajo Nyfeler kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. The supporters of Rafaela FC booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pawel Bouchard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eugenio Izotz kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Pawel Bouchard took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for German Ourente. Rafaela FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 78th minute of the match Kleopas Boller shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but German Ourente showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vladimir Schnyder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anibal Bonifaco, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 83 minutes into the game, Horace Feldmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fire Devils's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rafaela FC the free kick. After 83 played minutes Fire Devils got a freekick which was hit by Horace Feldmann. 91 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Anibal Bonifaco came free, but Vladimir Schnyder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Anibal Bonifaco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladimir Schnyder was relentless in the 95th minute of the game.
