With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Chilavert prevented the ball from getting in the gole. José Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Izaga in the 26th minute of play. A collision led to Blue Boys Predators getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Kennet Brovall hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Blue Boys Predators's zone, Gonzalo Perl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Chilavert came out of the goal and Gonzalo Perl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 36 minutes into the match, Blue Boys Predators's goal looked a bit too open when Gonzalo Perl came free, but José Chilavert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Izaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Harald Wallengren charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harald Wallengren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kasper Lindell to strike the kick off in the second half. José Chilavert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonzalo Perl in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 58th minute Gonzalo Perl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Magallanes booed when Blue Boys Predators was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harald Wallengren didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Antonio Mackenzie kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving José Chilavert. That made the score 1-2 in the 65 minute of play. Brian Izagas short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got José Chilavert to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. José Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Izaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 75thth minute of the game Brian Izaga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Blue Boys Predators's José Chilavert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elias Longa got free with José Chilavert in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Perl in the 81st minute of play forced Blue Boys Predators's goalkeeper José Chilavert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Blue Boys Predators's José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brian Izaga in the 82nd minute of play. José Chilavert was a little too slow when Brian Izaga got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 83rd minute. The score was now 1-3. 87 minutes into the match, Blue Boys Predators's goalkeeper José Chilavert had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elias Longa. Kasper Lindell kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brian Izaga got free with José Chilavert in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 93 played minutes Elias Longa rounded Blue Boys Predators's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-4. Magallanes's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
