José Chilavert was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Brice Idoux capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Brice Idoux really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul-Émile Caillaud got free with José Chilavert in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 46 minutes into the game, Harald Wallengren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Blue Boys Predators's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosa nostra Lyon the free kick. After 46 played minutes Blue Boys Predators got a freekick which was hit by Harald Wallengren. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
