Paulo Napier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the game, Franco Abascal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Paulo Napier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Franco Abascal during the 14th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franco Abascal in the 19th minute of play forced Club Sports Pergamino's goalkeeper Paulo Napier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 27 minutes of play, Club Sports Pergamino's Cristobal Botello made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Abeita in the 36th minute of play forced Club Sports Pergamino's goalkeeper Paulo Napier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the game, Deportivo Empate's Franco Abascal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Napier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After having played for 44 minutes, Franco Abascal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Empate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franco Abascal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guilabertus Abar hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Club Sports Pergamino's Paulo Napier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Club Sports Pergamino from getting a goal against them. After 54 minutes, Vicente Soin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Sports Pergamino and the Deportivo Empate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Club Sports Pergamino's Vicente Soin got a free kick in the 55th minute. Paulo Napier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynardo Abeijon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gomez Abadia hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. When Hernando Abella came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Deportivo Empate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernando Abella couldn't finish the play. If Reynardo Abeijon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
