The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes Maní FC got a freekick which was hit by Luisito Costante. Ravi Lopes was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 15 minutes into the match. After having played for 17 minutes, Dario Isaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maní FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dario Isaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vila Industrial FC's Evaristo Catarinense got a free kick in the 21st minute. The supporters of Vila Industrial FC booed when Maní FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dario Isaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37th minute, Gernando Bittencourt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Cavalcante in the 43rd minute of play forced Maní FC's goalkeeper Desiderio Gaztea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Ursino's late challenge caught a Vila Industrial FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marco Ursino helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th match minute, Maní FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Ursino to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th minute Rafael Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Desiderio Gaztea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lorenzo Henrico to make the kick off. Benê Simão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Benê Simão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Henrico in the 68th minute of play. With a little luck, Maní FC's Desiderio Gaztea got control of the ball when Rafael Cavalcante tried to sneak it across the goal line.
