After having played for 35 minutes, Róbert Tamás managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gyál United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Róbert Tamás was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38thth minute of the game Kasey Gobey who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gyál United's Sándor Jászberényi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With his leg Matthew Edwards managed to avoid a goal in the 41stth minute, when Gyál United's László Medgyesi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 44 minutes into the game, Spike Lambley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atlético de Newell's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gyál United the free kick. After 44 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Spike Lambley. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. László Medgyesi was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Kasey Gobey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 79th minute László Medgyesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Edwards saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Club Atlético de Newell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benji Kay to maneuver through the defense. Dom Mortlock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
