The supporters of San Martin de Tucumán booed when Club Atlético de Newell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kasey Gobey didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Simon Steven got free with Matthew Edwards in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Faustino Sayvion hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute of the match Kasey Gobey sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Feliciano Chorche skillfully saved the ball. When Nicolas Sayvion fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Martin de Tucumán's protests and gave Nicolas Sayvion a yellow card for diving instead. Nicolas Sayvion kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Seth Tanner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Feliciano Chorche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alfred Barnfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Barnfield in the 41st minute of play forced San Martin de Tucumán's goalkeeper Feliciano Chorche to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfred Barnfield to make the kick off. Feliciano Chorche showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfred Barnfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Alfred Barnfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Feliciano Chorche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Alfred Barnfield got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dom Mortlock got free with Feliciano Chorche in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Feliciano Chorche showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfred Barnfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. After a defensive mix-up in San Martin de Tucumán's zone, Alfred Barnfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Feliciano Chorche came out of the goal and Alfred Barnfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético de Newell's Basil Holden got a free kick in the 79th minute. Feliciano Chorche showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfred Barnfield in the 89th minute of the match. Teodosio Palban hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. When the match was over Club Atlético de Newell could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than San Martin de Tucumán throughout the match.
