Marcinho Velloso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Omar Bartuelo. Defensores de Mar de Ajó's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 9th match minute, REAL VASCO RIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sydney Mazza to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the match, Defensores de Mar de Ajó's goal looked a bit too open when Mazinho Paranaense came free, but Omar Bartuelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, REAL VASCO RIO's goal looked a bit too open when Mauricio Mel came free, but Flávio de Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of REAL VASCO RIO booed when Defensores de Mar de Ajó was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Domeka didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute Gláuber Cardozo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Bartuelo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Mazinho Paranaense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Angelo Tande hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Gláuber Cardozo scored 0-2 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Omar Bartuelo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to REAL VASCO RIO getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Angelo Tande hit a great ball. In the 35th minute Sydney Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Bartuelo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute of the match Sydney Mazza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Omar Bartuelo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 42 minutes into the game, REAL VASCO RIO's Josué da Cunha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Omar Bartuelo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After the first half REAL VASCO RIO were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gláuber Cardozo to strike the kick off in the second half. Defensores de Mar de Ajó's Omar Bartuelo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Paranaense in the 51st minute of play. Flávio de Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Candido Estavan, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The supporters of Defensores de Mar de Ajó booed when REAL VASCO RIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flávio de Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zacarias Ignado, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After a rather tough play, REAL VASCO RIO's Horácio Pires got a free kick in the 55th minute. REAL VASCO RIO's Flávio de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Peru in the 56th minute of play. Josué da Cunha's late challenge caught a Defensores de Mar de Ajó's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josué da Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th minute, Josué da Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Peru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flávio de Queiroz having to interfere. Federico Lon was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 67 minutes into the match. 68 minutes into the game, Angelo Tande cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Omar Bartuelo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mazinho Paranaense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Omar Bartuelo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flávio de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauricio Mel in the 76th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mauricio Mel in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flávio de Queiroz saved REAL VASCO RIO from getting behind. Omar Bartuelo made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Josué da Cunha sent off a good shot on target. The REAL VASCO RIO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing REAL VASCO RIO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
