The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Zygmunt Gniech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriele Batistuta in the 15th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Simon Swart put in a rough tackle. A collision led to Lemel SV getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Simon Swart hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lemel SV's zone, Krzysztof Mocko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olivier Kahn came out of the goal and Krzysztof Mocko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olivier Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herbert Bulkiewicz in the 21st minute of the match. SMOCZANKA MIELEC's Zygmunt Gniech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriele Batistuta in the 27th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Lemel SV's goalkeeper Olivier Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Herbert Bulkiewicz. Dawid Golota kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Lemel SV's Ton Janus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zygmunt Gniech narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ton Janus was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ton Janus got free with Zygmunt Gniech in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 56 minutes into the game, Kazimierz Nowakowski threw the ball into play from the sideline. Lemel SV's Hans Degeling quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herbert Bulkiewicz in the 59th minute of play forced Lemel SV's goalkeeper Olivier Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
