Spectators: 7710 (Terracing: 5784, Seating: 1773, VIP seats: 153) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Mariano Gorosti got the match started through his kick off. In the 8th minute, Guaberto Chorche hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 11 minutes into the match, Martin Mustikas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jaime Havier. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Martin Mustikas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in FC Dundee's zone, Martin Normando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elmut Saidla came out of the goal and Martin Normando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nestor Erdiano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elmut Saidla having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Loss in the 22nd minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Jaime Havier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Nestor Erdiano hit a great ball. In the 28th minute Independiente were awarded a corner. Nestor Erdiano went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Independiente's corner Nestor Erdiano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Elmut Saidla quite easily take care of the ball. After 29 played minutes FC Dundee got a freekick which was hit by Endel Tihumets. Independiente's Jaime Havier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Endel Tihumets in the 37th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Olaf Eesti cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jaime Havier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Martin Mustikas's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martin Mustikas helped the player get up and apologised. When Arto Õunapuu fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Dundee's protests and gave Arto Õunapuu a yellow card for diving instead. Arto Õunapuu hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Endel Tihumets to make the kick off. Endel Tihumets could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Jaime Havier made a huge save. Jaime Havier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tom Loss in the 58th minute. The supporters of Independiente booed when FC Dundee was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Endel Tihumets didn't get a good kick on the ball. 60 minutes into the match, FC Dundee's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Erdiano came free, but Elmut Saidla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 62 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Gipuzkoa. Jaime Havier came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Dundee's Martin Mustikas. But to his dismay, Martin Mustikas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 84 minutes into the match, FC Dundee's goal looked a bit too open when Guaberto Chorche came free, but Elmut Saidla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 86 minutes into the game, when Maximiliano Gipuzkoa put in a rough tackle. In the 87th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximiliano Gipuzkoa to maneuver through the defense. FC Dundee's Elmut Saidla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Gorosti in the 91st minute of play. The FC Dundee supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Dundee would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
