Arnaldo de Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Salles in the 3rd minute of the match. After 8 played minutes Goblins F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Paes. Agostinho Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Kiko Aparecido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Pedro Mendes might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kiko Aparecido. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zé Pedro Mendes ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vivaldo Munhoz in the 15th minute of play forced Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Kiko Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fabiano Nogueira kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Vivaldo Munhoz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Sagarana Clube booed when Goblins F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilvan Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Sagarana Clube's João Paulo Neiva nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnaldo de Carvalho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After some careless play in the Goblins F.C. defense, Sidnei Trigo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnaldo de Carvalho. The Goblins F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnaldo de Carvalho should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Sagarana Clube's Armandinho Mandrak got a free kick in the 38th minute. Zé Pedro Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Kiko Aparecido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute Zé Pedro Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kiko Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Sagarana Clube's Kiko Aparecido got control of the ball when Vivaldo Munhoz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilmar Netto's late challenge caught a Goblins F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilmar Netto helped the player get up and apologised. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gilmar Netto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnaldo de Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Sagarana Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dino Veloso in the 56th minute. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Arnaldo dos Santos advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 56th minute. After a rather tough play, Goblins F.C.'s Eduardo Machado got a free kick in the 60th minute. Arnaldo de Carvalho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dino Veloso in the 61st minute. Sagarana Clube's Kiko Aparecido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho Borges in the 67th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Vivaldo Munhoz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kiko Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Zé Pedro Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goblins F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Pedro Mendes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kiko Aparecido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Goblins F.C.'s goalkeeper couldn't reach when Erik Salles 96 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sagarana Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
