An unexpectedly hard shot by Tod Mosley in the 23rd minute of play forced Flames FC's goalkeeper Jerrod Staples to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Berry Corley's late challenge caught a New England Minas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Berry Corley helped the player get up and apologised. Berry Corley hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After 36 played minutes, New England Minas's Pere Ba shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jerrod Staples came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Flames FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Berry Corley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Winford Taylor breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 45 minutes, Tod Mosley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New England Minas and the Flames FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tod Mosley hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.
