A collision led to FC LIVERPOOL getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Simon Burbeary hit a great ball. When Dimitar Berbatov fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC CSKA's protests and gave Dimitar Berbatov a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC CSKA's Dimitar Berbatov got a free kick in the 12th minute. Tyler Woodcock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kamen Sarandev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tyler Woodcock came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by FC CSKA's Kamen Sarandev. But to his dismay, Kamen Sarandev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Rafail Bumbovski hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Atanas Dlúgnekov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lance Sedgemore, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Kev Basham notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC CSKA's Atanas Dlúgnekov. Atanas Dlúgnekov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kamen Sarandev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Tyler Woodcock made a huge save. Atanas Dlúgnekov came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by FC LIVERPOOL's Kev Basham. But to his dismay, Kev Basham quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

FC LIVERPOOL's Philip Kennedy was substituted for Sacha Dowdall. FC LIVERPOOL made a substitution. Justin Beevers replaced Dave Webster. In the 57th minute, Dimitar Berbatov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tyler Woodcock was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Atanas Dlúgnekov was a little too slow when Gavin Freeman got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 61st minute. The score was now 2-3. In the 72nd minute Gavin Freeman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Atanas Dlúgnekov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lance Sedgemore in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Atanas Dlúgnekov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Atanas Dlúgnekov didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lance Sedgemore went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score. A collision led to FC LIVERPOOL getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Damien Bean hit a great ball. In the 85th minute, Lance Sedgemore ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Atanas Dlúgnekov was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-6. A collision led to FC CSKA getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Antonio Lyubchenkov hit a great ball. After 91 played minutes FC LIVERPOOL got a freekick which was hit by Damien Bean. The audience was convinced that Mick Mortimer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Atanas Dlúgnekov was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. In the 96th match minute, FC LIVERPOOL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Burbeary to maneuver through the defense. The FC CSKA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC LIVERPOOL were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
