Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Valer Nuțu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- from getting a goal against them. Valer Nuțu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leon Myrick in the 8th minute of the match. Santos FC's Rusty Little played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petre Benga in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Santos FC's zone, Maxim Strugure stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rusty Little came out of the goal and Maxim Strugure tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 36 minutes, Denis Bourceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Denis Bourceanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 37th minute, Victor Hess hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 38 played minutes, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Eliodor Bântu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rusty Little came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- reached it. In the 45th minute, Petre Benga made a precise shot to the right of Rusty Little. Santos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2.
After 54 played minutes Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Maxim Strugure. Valer Nuțu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sherwood Franks, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Valer Nuțu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Burr in the 59th minute of play. Leon Myrick charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leon Myrick the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 60th minute, Leon Myrick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 61 played minutes, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Eliodor Bântu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rusty Little came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. After 66 minutes of play, Santos FC's Lawrence Smart made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valer Nuțu was left in no man's land by his defense there! 70 minutes into the match, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Sherwood Franks came free, but Valer Nuțu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rusty Little took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leontin Matei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute, Maxim Strugure made a precise shot to the right of Rusty Little. Santos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Denis Bourceanu managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lawrence Smart in the 81 minute of the game. Petre Benga received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rusty Little came out and tried to block the shot, but Petre Benga slotted it home off the left post making it 2-4 in the 82nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Burr in the 86th minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Valer Nuțu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lawrence Smart to maneuver through the defense. Rusty Little was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Mugurel Hojbota. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
