The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zaquiel Boñar got free with Fedele Nardi in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vinicio Collado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Comunardo Rullo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dino Cantagallo during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 18 played minutes Gladiator FC got a freekick which was hit by Dino Cantagallo. 21 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Comunardo Rullo came free, but Vinicio Collado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Zaquiel Boñar got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 29th match minute, Astillero del Guayas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Rioboo to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Fabiano Tatangelo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vinicio Collado was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. In the 44th match minute, Gladiator FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dino Cantagallo to maneuver through the defense. Gladiator FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Alfredo Rioboo scored to the left of an out of position Fedele Nardi, making the score, 2-0.

A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Alfredo Rioboo hit a great ball. Arrigo Addari took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vinicio Collado. Vinicio Collado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. When Gladiator FC's Amedeo Orlandi in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 77 minutes of play Astillero del Guayas's Zaquiel Boñar was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Francesco Tabacco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Vinicio Collado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Francesco Tabacco came free, but Vinicio Collado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francesco Tabacco charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francesco Tabacco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Francesco Tabacco hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Francesco Tabacco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vinicio Collado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. If Amedeo Orlandi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 99 minutes into the match, Gladiator FC's goal looked a bit too open when Corozo Nevares came free, but Fedele Nardi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gladiator FC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Astillero del Guayas had won, even though Gladiator FC had held more of the ball.
