FC Wil 1900's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave De Pelgrims the free kick. Ferdi van der Schaaf was slow to take the kick. During this time De Pelgrims's players had a chance to rest. Umberto Romano's late challenge caught a De Pelgrims's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Umberto Romano helped the player get up and apologised. Umberto Romano hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Yanic Kulenovic, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Umberto Romano got his second yellow card in the match during the 36th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. With an all-out effort, De Pelgrims's Yanic Kulenovic threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jan Klasen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tomas Zoller kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Huub Nagel to make the kick off. Yanic Kulenovic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaas Jan Baaijen in the 54th minute of the match. Norbert von Rohr scored 1-1 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Elbert Plescher, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
