Mattias Morreels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. chacarita juniors's defense didn't have a chance, in the 7th minute, when Eddy Claes scored to the left of an out of position Rene Goren, making the score, 1-0. Rene Goren made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Bart De Koq sent off a good shot on target. Eddy Claes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Rene Goren 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, chacarita juniors's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bart De Koq fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The supporters of chacarita juniors booed when Purple Talents was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remco Van Der Elst didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mattias Morreels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Americo Gipuzkoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute Bart De Koq shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Goren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lucio Bermudez struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Mattias Morreels didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for chacarita juniors. After 46 played minutes chacarita juniors got a freekick which was hit by Arnaldo Jakue. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
