The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Doni Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gracie Barra's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doni Ramalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 8 minutes of play, Purple Talents's Remco Van Der Elst made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leopoldo Queirós was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leopoldo Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Spoelbergh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tiago Godoi charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tiago Godoi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Charl Mesmaekers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. Leopoldo Queirós came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Purple Talents's Bart De Koq. But to his dismay, Bart De Koq quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 31st minute Eddy Claes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Andy Spoelbergh made a precise shot to the right of Leopoldo Queirós. Gracie Barra's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. In the 35th minute Bart De Koq shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Purple Talents's Birger De Coster got a free kick in the 36th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Igor Pirani to make the kick off. The supporters of Purple Talents booed when Gracie Barra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leopoldo Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddy Claes, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After 66 minutes, Chicão Donatello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gracie Barra and the Purple Talents players grew even worse after the yellow card. Purple Talents's Mattias Morreels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Godoi in the 70th minute of play. Eddy Claes struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Leopoldo Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Purple Talents. After 87 played minutes Gracie Barra got a freekick which was hit by Edmílson Bastos. In the 90th minute Tiago Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Morreels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leopoldo Queirós was a little too slow when Remco Van Der Elst got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 1-5.
