The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Didi Pires got in the 6th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Rudolph Jackson handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The supporters of CA Portugália booed when Leeton United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phillip Waterland didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 20 minutes, Sebastião Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CA Portugália's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Koehler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Veloso during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Afonso Veloso hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Ernesto Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernest Giles in the 29th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Sebastião Koehler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudolph Jackson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Evaristo Coutinho came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the CA Portugália fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Coutinho couldn't finish the play. If Ernest Giles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Bruce Roach charged in rather forcefully in the 50th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruce Roach the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Phillip Waterland hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Didi Pires might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rudolph Jackson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Didi Pires ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 76th minute Thomas Thomas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 78 played minutes CA Portugália got a freekick which was hit by Angelo Senna. When Didi Pires fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CA Portugália's protests and gave Didi Pires a yellow card for diving instead. After 87 played minutes CA Portugália got a freekick which was hit by Didi Pires. A collision led to CA Portugália getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Umberto Montenegro hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Bruce Roach managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leeton United FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruce Roach was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 94th minute Didi Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudolph Jackson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
