The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bebeto Mendes scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jose Chilavert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ilulea FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Luizão Pesqueira 12 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. In the 17thth minute of the game Bebeto Mendes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ilulea FC's Jose Chilavert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Ronaldo Guimarães could shoot a difficult shot in the 19th minute, which Jose Chilavert however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Ilulea FC booed when Pesqueira City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jose Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 36th minute, Luizão Pesqueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 38 minutes into the match, Bebeto Mendes notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Ilulea FC's Jose Chilavert. Jose Chilavert was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Enéas Borges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victoriano Ixona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bebeto Mendes struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Jose Chilavert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pesqueira City. Jose Chilavert was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Ronaldo Guimarães capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ronaldo Guimarães really showed his touch with that goal: 5-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Victoriano Ixona made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 53 minutes into the game, when Luiz-Henrique Pesqueira put in a rough tackle. In the 53rd minute, one of Pesqueira City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pesqueira City. Victoriano Ixona might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enéas Borges. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victoriano Ixona ran back to his position shaking his head. Jose Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Guimarães in the 62nd minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Adrianinho Carneiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pesqueira City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ilulea FC the free kick. After 65 played minutes Pesqueira City got a freekick which was hit by Adrianinho Carneiro. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Menno Zuurman in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enéas Borges prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Victoriano Ixonas short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Enéas Borges to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jose Chilavert didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ronaldo Guimarães went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. Victoriano Ixona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enéas Borges having to interfere. Hernan Herrera charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hernan Herrera the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Pesqueira City booed when Ilulea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernan Herrera didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bebeto Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jose Chilavert having to interfere. Jose Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Guimarães in the 81st minute of play. If Rômulo de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute, Orlando Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronaldo Guimarães in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jose Chilavert prevented the ball from getting in the gole. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pesqueira City fully deserved thier win.
