The audience was convinced that Thorben Rittmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sergio-Roberto Livingstone was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. General Velásquez's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bartolomeo Heinlein 21 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thorben Rittmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 27 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's Thorben Rittmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sergio-Roberto Livingstone narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to General Velásquez getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Flavio Chacaltana hit a great ball. In the 30th minute of the match, Bartolomeo Heinlein tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Sergio-Roberto Livingstone saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Thorben Rittmann sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to General Velásquez getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Delfino Mac Rostie hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Hanamichi Sakuragi kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Sydney FC's Florian Guderian got control of the ball when Luciano Wilkenson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carmelo Avalos came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Florian Guderian could save by the left post. Thorben Rittmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thorben Rittmann took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sergio-Roberto Livingstone. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Máximo Acosta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sydney FC's Florian Guderian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavio Chacaltana in the 70th minute of play. When Flavio Chacaltana fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored General Velásquez's protests and gave Flavio Chacaltana a yellow card for diving instead. Sydney FC's Florian Guderian proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Sydney FC from getting a goal against them. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thorben Rittmann in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Thorben Rittmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio-Roberto Livingstone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. General Velásquez's Horacio Unzaga was substituted for Delfino Gabler. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luciano Wilkenson got free with Florian Guderian in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sergio-Roberto Livingstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thorben Rittmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sydney FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
