Patagonia got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Pio. After a defensive mix-up in A.C. Patagonia's zone, Jardel Abraão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dennis Cala came out of the goal and Jardel Abraão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodriguinho Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jardel Abraão to make the kick off. Dennis Cala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jardel Abraão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patagonia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Christiano de Azevedo took the corner.
