With an all-out effort, Glentown FC's Adelino Coelho threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Andreas Hedberg, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 12th minute, Glentown FC's Vilgot Spetz seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Vilgot Spetz the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Glentown FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Vilgot Spetz had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of Glentown FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Braga:s goal. Tommy Kvist had in the 13thth minute some difficulties stopping Evandro Figueiras's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. SC Braga's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Evandro Figueiras in the 14th minute. A nice corner shot did that Evandro Figueiras got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tommy Kvist quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tommy Kvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro Figueiras in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Osório to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Glentown FC's Andreas Hedberg got a free kick in the 25th minute. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Hilário Viegas hit a great ball. In the 34th match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caetano Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. In the 38th minute of the match, Eric Axelsson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Adelino Coelho was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The corner led Glentown FC's Henric Forsberg to fire away a dangerous shot which Adelino Coelho despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Glentown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henric Forsberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leal Antas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adelino Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eric Axelsson in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Axelsson in the 61st minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Adelino Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adelino Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Hedberg in the 66th minute of play. Erling Kling recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Glentown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erling Kling didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Kvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio Osório in the 76th minute of play. In the 84th minute, Erling Kling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evandro Figueiras shot from long distance in the 85th minute, but Tommy Kvist was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
